A plate heat exchanger is a type of heat exchanger that transfers heat between two fluids using metal plates. The fluids are spread out over the plates, which has a significant advantage over a traditional heat exchanger in that they are exposed to a significantly larger surface area. This speeds up the temperature change and makes it easier for heat to be transferred. Millions of combination boilers use very tiny brazed versions of plate heat exchangers, which are now widely used. Combination boilers' domestic hot water (DHW) flowrate has increased due to their combination of excellent heat transfer efficiency and compact physical size. Domestic heating and hot water have greatly benefited from the small plate heat exchanger.
