APV PHE Series utilises very turbulent counter-current flow of the two mediums to produce the best efficiency and heat transfer rates. The regeneration rate is the temperature increase or loss between a hot fluid and a cold fluid at a specific flow rate. Armstrong Series PHE units provide high turbulence, tailored corrugation, and counter-current flows to deliver up to 90% regeneration rates.

Typical Requirements
1.1 Provide an APV-designed and produced plate heat exchanger that is fully built, inspected, and tested to ensure that it satisfies the schedule's thermal and hydraulic criteria.
1.2 The heat exchanger design must adhere to the ISO9001 standard
1.3 Each plate must have a gasket composed of nitrile, EPDM, or another material rated for continuous operation at the design temperature and compatible with all the operating fluids. A tent-shaped gasket cross section will provide greater sealing with reduced compressive stress.
1.4 In compliance with Armstrong requirements, the covers and all other carbon steel components must be cleaned, prepped, and painted. The moveable cover must be equipped with a roller assembly for heat exchangers that are 1270 mm (50") or taller so that it can be moved with ease during assembly and plate inspection.
1.5 All four connections on the fixed front cover are the ideal connection configuration. Vertical flow arrangement is required. It is unacceptable to have a diagonal flow pattern. To prevent nozzle pipe loadings and leaks in the connection region, connections must be built into the cover and be either of the studded DIN or BSP type.
